Established in 1998 by former ad-agency executive, John Lewis, Simunix was the first non-telecom company to bring free directory enquiries to the Internet as This followed the deregulation of the directory data sources found in BT’s OSIS database and since then, ukphonebook has become the goto online source for people, business and address searching in the UK.

    Simunix sets up one of the first free online directory enquiries services.

    Building on the popularity of, a business dedicated version of the directory enquiries website is created.

    Simunix launches its own 118 service

    Voice directory enquiries services are deregulated and Simunix enters a high profile number allocation lottery. 118 365 is launched becoming one of the lowest cost directory assistance numbers in the UK.

  • 2007

    Development of data cleansing services

    Simunix expands into marketing data services adding a teleappending facility to Corporate and launching TPS Manage, a TPS/CTPS checking website.

    One of the most innovative services developed by Simunix, ZoneSearch changes the way customers search for people and businesses allowing them to target geographic areas.

  • 2014

    Simunix launches an API

    T2A enables web developers to incorporate some of the functionality Simunix already offers into their own websites and business applications.

  • 2017

    Corporate becomes ORBIS

    Simunix consolidates all its services under a single name and launches a new look website with improved functionality and additional data sources.
